Marble FAQs

Is marble really too high-maintenance for kitchens?

Not necessarily. Many homeowners choose marble knowing that natural patina and subtle wear are part of the material’s character.

Does marble always etch?

Marble can etch when exposed to acidic substances, but severity depends on finish, stone composition, and maintenance.

Is honed marble easier to live with than polished marble?

Honed marble often disguises etching and daily wear more effectively than polished finishes.

Can marble be repaired after etching?

Light etching can often be improved through refinishing or professional restoration.

Does sealing marble prevent etching?

Sealers help reduce absorption and staining but do not stop acid etching.

Why do designers still use marble if it stains?

Marble remains popular because of its depth, softness, and timeless appearance.
